Best Overall HOKA Running Shoe: HOKA Mach X 3

Price: $190 at Dicks Sporting Goods

Hoka Mach X 3 review: Third time’s a charm
A smoother ride, improved comfort, and reliable stability make the Mach X 3 Hoka’s best cushioned tempo trainer yet.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium | Weight: 9.5oz (269g) | Drop: 5mm

The Mach X 3 is the one HOKA I’d keep if I could only have a single road shoe.

The PEBA-topped midsole + responsive Pebax® plate gives real bounce and propulsion, yet it’s still cushioned and stable enough for easy miles.

It's fast when you want it, and comfortable at any pace; it's hands-down the most versatile, do-everything trainer in the 2026 lineup and my personal “desert island” HOKA.

Best HOKA Running Shoe for Daily Training: HOKA Clifton 10

Price: $155 at Dicks Sporting Goods

Hoka Clifton 10 Review: Still One Of The Best Daily Trainers
Lightweight, cushioned, and smooth, the Hoka Clifton 10 is a versatile daily trainer with updated stability and improved durability for everyday miles.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium & Wide | Weight: 9.7oz / 275g | Drop: 8mm

The Clifton 10 remains the daily trainer benchmark, now with softer CMEVA foam, improved breathability, and that smooth HOKA ride make it perfect for easy miles, recovery, or just disappearing on your feet all day.

Best Max Cushion HOKA Running Shoe for Long Easy Runs: HOKA Bondi 9

Price: $175 at Dicks Sporting Goods

Hoka Bondi 9 Review: Shock Absorbers For Your Legs
Soft, stable, and reliable, the Hoka Bondi 9 is a max-cushioned daily trainer designed for recovery runs, long walks, and all-day comfort on your feet.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium & Wide | Weight: 10.9oz (309g) | Drop: 5mm

The Bondi 9 is max-cushion royalty. A huge slab of supercritical foam and early-stage Meta-Rocker make slow, long miles feel effortless. If pillow-soft landings are your priority, this is the king.

Best HOKA Super Trainer: HOKA Mach X 3

Price: $190 at Dicks Sporting Goods

Hoka Mach X 3 review: Third time’s a charm
A smoother ride, improved comfort, and reliable stability make the Mach X 3 Hoka’s best cushioned tempo trainer yet.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium | Weight: 9.5oz (269g) | Drop: 5mm

The Mach X 3 finally nails the super-trainer brief. With a PEBA-topped midsole + Pebax® plate, it delivers real bounce and propulsion while staying cushioned enough for daily miles.

It's my go-to Hoka, when I want one shoe that can do tempo, intervals, and long runs with pace.

Best HOKA Running Shoe for Speed Work: HOKA Mach 7

Price: $145 at REI

Hoka Mach 7 review: fast, light, but did it lose its edge?
The Mach 7 is lighter, more refined, and better built than ever. But if you loved the Mach 6’s tempo snap, there’s something you should know before buying.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium (wide available) | Weight: 7.5oz (213g) | Drop: 5mm

Light, smooth, and easy to trust, the Mach 7 works best as a lightweight daily trainer that can handle steady miles and uptempo running.

The upper fit and lockdown are better than ever, the outsole is more durable, and the ride feels more cushioned and forgiving than the previous version. Just know this new version leans more toward comfort and versatility than sharp speed.

How to master your running cadence (and why it matters)
Your running cadence affects more than you think—here’s how to measure it, adjust it, and use it to run stronger and with fewer injuries.

Best HOKA Stability Running Shoe: HOKA Arahi 8

Price: $150 at Dicks Sporting Goods

HOKA Arahi 8 review: My favorite Arahi yet!
Lighter, wider, and more versatile than before; this is HOKA’s most refined stability trainer to date.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium & Wide | Weight: 9.2oz (261g) | Drop: 8mm

The Arahi 8 is still the lightest, softest stability shoe around. New H-Frame gives balanced guidance that never feels intrusive, making it ideal for mild overpronators who hate heavy “corrective” trainers.

Best HOKA Racing Shoe (Super Shoe): HOKA Rocket X 3

Price: $250 at Dicks Sporting Goods

HOKA Rocket X 3 Review: Faster, Lighter, and Now More Stable
Lighter, more stable, more breathable, and easier to wear—the Rocket X 3 fixes its flaws and flies even better than before.

Key Specs: True to size (race snug) | Width: Medium | Weight: 7.3oz (207g) | Drop: 7mm

The Rocket X 3 is HOKA’s marathon weapon. With a dual-density PEBA foam midsole + forked carbon plate, you get explosive propulsion with surprising comfort for 26.2.

If you want HOKA speed with real durability, this is the one. It's also very accessible to many runners as it has good stability compared to other super shoes.

Best bouncy marathon racer: HOKA Cielo X1 3.0

Price: $275 at HOKA.com

HOKA Cielo X1 3.0 review: bouncier, better balanced, and still a true marathon racer
That 7oz race-light feel shows up when you turn it over, but the narrow rear can get tippy if you drift heelward when tiring.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium | Weight: 7.0oz (198g) (my pair, US M9) | Drop: 7mm | Stack: 38mm heel / 31mm forefoot

If you want that springy, “pop back” feeling over the full marathon, the Cielo X1 3.0 is my pick. Compared to the X1 2.0, it feels better balanced at more paces (even when you’re not absolutely sending it), and the bounce is noticeably easier to access without forcing perfect posture.

It rewards a midfoot-to-forefoot landing with a really clean set → load → pop transition, and the toe-off feels crisp without being quite as picky as before.

If you know you want more heel stability in your marathon racer, the HOKA Rocket X 3 is the more forgiving option.

Best HOKA Running Shoe for Everyday Wear / Walking: HOKA Bondi 9

Price: $175 at Dicks Sporting Goods

Hoka Bondi 9 Review: Shock Absorbers For Your Legs
Soft, stable, and reliable, the Hoka Bondi 9 is a max-cushioned daily trainer designed for recovery runs, long walks, and all-day comfort on your feet.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium & Wide | Weight: 10.9oz (309g) | Drop: 5mm

Thanks to all the cushioning and support, the Bondi 9 doubles perfectly as an all-day walking shoe. You'll get cloud-like comfort for 20,000-step days without fatigue.

Best HOKA Running Shoe for Wide Feet: HOKA Clifton 10 Wide

Price: $155 at Dicks Sporting Goods (select Wide or Extra Wide)

Hoka Clifton 10 Review: Still One Of The Best Daily Trainers
Lightweight, cushioned, and smooth, the Hoka Clifton 10 is a versatile daily trainer with updated stability and improved durability for everyday miles.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Wide / Extra Wide | Weight: 9.7oz / 275g | Drop: 8mm

The Clifton 10 Wide gives genuine toe-box room without sacrificing lockdown, making them perfect for those who feel the standard fits is too cramped.

Best HOKA All-Mountain Trail Shoe: HOKA Speedgoat 7

Price: $165 at REI

Hoka Speedgoat 7 review: the trail GOAT is back
Hoka fixes the fit (when you size up...) and ride, bringing the Speedgoat back to what made it such a trusted all-mountain trail shoe in the first place.

Key specs: Size up half a size | Width: Medium & Wide available | Weight: 10.1oz (286g) | Drop: 5mm | Lug depth: 5mm

The Speedgoat 7 feels like a proper return to form, with balanced cushioning, using new SCEVA foam, strong underfoot protection, and Vibram megagrip that keeps you confident on rocky, steep, and messy terrain.

My #1 HOKA pick for runners who want one trail shoe for long, technical mountain days.

Best HOKA Ultra Trail Cruiser: HOKA Mafate 5

Price: $185 at REI.com

Hoka Mafate 5 Review: A Plush Pivot For Trail Runners
More cushioning, more protection, and less speed. The Mafate 5 redefines one of HOKA’s flagship trail shoes for a slower, plusher ride.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium | Weight: 11.2 oz | Drop: 8mm

The Mafate 5 is the plush, protective cruiser for long days on mixed terrain.

It brings plush cushioning, a durable upper, and a smoother ride than ever, making them perfect when comfort is priority over speed or agility.

Best HOKA Running Shoe for Ultra Running: HOKA Mafate X

Price: $225 at Dicks Sporting Goods

Hoka Mafate X Review: For Speedy Ultras On Tame Trails
Max stack, max cushion, and a carbon plate — built for comfort over ultra-distances on tame trails, not agility on technical terrain.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium | Weight: 11.7oz (332g) | Drop: 8mm

This is Hoka's carbon-plated max-cushion trail monster. With a forked plate + PEBA core you get propulsion and protection for the longest ultras when you still want some bounce late in the race.

Best Competitive HOKA Ultra Trail Racing Shoe: HOKA Tecton X 3

Price: $275 at Hoka

HOKA Tecton X 3 Review
It’s not often a premium trail racing shoe designed for speed, stability, and versatility comes along BUT WHEN IT DOES…

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium | Weight: 9.4oz / 266g | Drop: 5mm

The Tecton X 3 absolutely flies on shorter, faster trail races. The responsive PEBA midsole and winged plates give you that super-shoe snap on climbs and descents, with enough cushion and monster grip to attack technical singletrack without holding back.

If you want one plated trail shoe that can do everything from 50K to 100-milers, on moderately technical trails, this is it.

Best HOKA Road-to-Trail Running Shoe: HOKA Challenger 8

Price: $155 at Dicks Sporting Goods

Hoka Challenger 8 Review: Still One Of The Best Hybrids!
A refined fit, better grip, and same soft, yet stable ride. HOKA’s latest hybrid road-to-trail running shoe just got even better.

Key Specs: True to size | Width: Medium & Wide | Weight: 9.5oz (269g) | Drop: 7mm | Lug: 4mm

The Challenger 8 is the ultimate “one shoe for everything” hybrid. It’s insanely comfortable straight out of the box with the best fit I’ve ever felt in a HOKA trail shoe.

The new multi-directional 4mm chevron lugs bite way better on loose dirt and climbs than v7, yet it still rolls smoothly on pavement without feeling clumpy. It's not a mud monster, but for everything from concrete to forest paths and gravel, it’s one of my absolute favorite do-it-all shoes.

Final Tips for Choosing the Right HOKA Shoe

  • One-shoe quiver → Mach X 3
  • Daily miles + speed → Mach X 3 (super trainer) or Mach 6
  • Max cushion recovery → Bondi 9
  • Technical trails → Speedgoat 6
  • Long ultras that don't get too technical (cruiser) → Mafate 5 (the chill, plush option) or Mafate X (faster)
  • Fast ultras (Western States style) → Tecton X 3 (for speed), or Mafate X (for a softer ride)
  • Road racing → Rocket X 3
  • Wide feet → Clifton 10 Wide / Bondi 9 Wide / Speedgoat 6 Wide
