The ASICS Gel-Kayano 32 refines one of the most trusted stability lines in running, this time with more cushioning, a livelier stride, and better adaptability across different gait types.
It’s a reliable, long-distance companion for runners who overpronate, but it now feels less blocky and more fluid, making it as capable for marathon training blocks as it is for everyday mileage.

Sizing and fit

The Gel-Kayano 32 fits true to size in both length and width.
I love how well the adaptive upper hugs the foot securely, offering a confident lockdown without pressure points.
The collar walls, heel counter and tongue are all very padded making them super comfy to step into.

The toe box runs snug, particularly on the lateral side, which may feel tight for forefoot strikers or those with broader toes. I’d love to see ASICS round off this area slightly in future versions.
The tongue looks short but performs well, it stays in place, and doesn't slip mid-run. Oh and there are plenty of finger loops to help slip them on.

Performance review
The Gel-Kayano 32 is everything I want from a max-cushioned stability trainer; soft underfoot, highly supportive, yet far from sluggish.
At 10.5oz, it’s not featherlight, but ASICS has tuned the geometry and foam so well that it feels smoother and quicker through transitions than previous models.

The ride feels notably more dynamic thanks to the FF BLAST™ PLUS midsole and a subtle forward-rolling sensation that encourages efficient movement through the gait cycle.

That extra 2mm of forefoot cushioning adds comfort for longer runs, while the PureGEL™ in the heel softens landings for those who strike rearward.
Stability remains the star of the show.
The 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM™ works impressively well, providing adaptive support that noticeably corrects overpronation without feeling too intrusive.

Thank you for supporting my work.
It doesn’t lock the foot into a rigid motion path but instead adjusts in real time, offering support when fatigue sets in or when form starts to waver.
That's one great reason these make for excellent beginner running shoes.
The Kayano 32 also has mild lateral support, which helps balance out the feel for neutral runners or mild supinators, expanding its appeal.
On the run, it’s easy to forget you’re in a stability shoe. There’s no harsh medial posting or clunky midfoot resistance.
Instead, the guidance system blends into the stride, helping you maintain a consistent rhythm whether cruising through easy runs or logging marathon-effort long runs.

The engineered mesh upper provides comfort and security but runs a touch warm on hot days.
Breathability is adequate for most conditions, though summer runners may notice heat buildup on slower efforts.

The ASICSGRIP™ outsole offers excellent wet-road traction and long-term durability, exactly what you want from a trainer built to go the distance.
In short, the Kayano 32 helps you move naturally with a surprising bit of pep and a lot of support. It’s that rare stability shoe that can handle steady-state tempos just as well as recovery days.

My verdict
The ASICS Gel-Kayano 32 hits a sweet spot between plush comfort and responsive stability.
It’s soft without being squishy, supportive without being restrictive, and smooth without being overly rocker-heavy.
With the Kayano 32, ASICS has produced a stability daily trainer that feels confident, balanced, and ready for anything from daily mileage to marathon prep.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed running in these!
